Education and Outreach

Education and outreach are central to NCCR Separations. We are committed to advancing and modernizing educational programs to align with the latest developments in separation science and sustainable processes, helping to cultivate the next generation of scientists and innovators within the interconnected landscape of research and industry. Our education and outreach efforts are aimed at the following target groups:

Children, Parents and Educators

NCCR Separations engages educators, students, and parents by promoting scientific curiosity through active participation in leading outreach events across Switzerland and beyond. We complement these activities with workshops that strengthen connections between schools and our research, offering hands-on experiences with cutting-edge science. By incorporating interactive and gamified approaches, we aim to make complex scientific concepts accessible, engaging, and inspiring for the next generation.

Undergraduates

NCCR Separations is dedicated to training future scientific leaders by developing interdisciplinary projects for undergraduate and master’s students, particularly through initiatives such as the EPFL MAKE Programme. These projects combine hands-on learning with cutting-edge research, including large-scale efforts like carbon removal and direct air capture on the EPFL campus. In parallel, we will create specialized modules in separation sciences and contribute to collaborative programs with partners such as HES-SO Valais.

PhD and Postdocs

NCCR Separations supports early-career researchers through international exchange programs, enabling PhD students and postdocs to collaborate across leading laboratories, gain complementary expertise, and benefit from tailored mentoring and career development. Strong links with industry are fostered through secondments. Complementary activities, including summer schools, workshops, and training in transferable skills, further enhance professional development.
